New ways to blend fun and a stronger body!

Here’s the scoop on four of Australia’s strongest fitness trends for 2017, and the results they deliver, with a little dedication.

Karaoke SPIN

The What

A 30-45 minute workout complete with a dark room, hot songs and of course a sing-along. Your spin class has never been so pumped! Pedalling in sync to the beat while singing adds an extra element of fun so that you – and the class – seems to spin by faster! It’s intense – and uplifting!

The Results

A minimum of two times per week is great to get your fitness level up and burn those calories – not to mention stretch the vocal chords!

Barre Attack

The What

Barre Attack is a low-impact, high-intensity workout that combines standing Pilates work, short cardio bursts and dance moves. It is hugely popular throughout Australia, and the growth of the trend shows no sign of slowing. Differing from other Barre classes, Barre Attack is an intense sweat fest that tones and strengthens the body and posture.

The Results

“We see people from the ages of 13-70+ in the studio proving age is no barrier when it comes to Barre Attack,” explains Ben Lucas of Flow Athletic. “Anybody who wants results fast should like this class.” Commitment pays dividends in the form of stronger core muscle groups that help with balance, posture and injury prevention. “The bonus is you get fit, and feel better after one class, look better after five and your friends and family start to notice the “new you” after ten classes,” adds Ben.

No Lights No Lycra

The What

No Lights No Lycra is a dance movement founded in Melbourne by two dance students. The ethos is to get back to what dance is all about – free movement and fun! As the name suggests, there is no lights, no lycra, (no teacher, no steps to learn, no technique and no worries!) The space is one you can go and shake out your stresses without anyone staring at your uncoordinated abandon! Grab a friend or go solo and lose yourself in the music while working up a fantastic sweat!

The Results

Don’t expect a 6-pack, but do expect to feel stress-free, rejuvenated and energised almost immediately after class!

IRON ZUU

The What

“The new Iron Zuu program is a resistance workout that is unlike any program on earth as it features a unique 50/50 mix of free weights with movement,” explains Ben. The workout consists of an original combination of dumbbell techniques that promote a more natural range of motion designed to break breathing rhythms of individuals. “Once their breathing rhythm has been broken, their heart rate climbs to top end conditioning,” Ben continues, adding that it doesn’t matter whether you’re the fittest cross fitter or a world champion in another sport,” minimising the physiological effect is the same.”

The Results

Iron Zuu increases mobility in the joints, strengthen ligaments and tendons which lead to a direct increase in minimising injury. Body composition changes happen very quickly and with changes are vast in the first month.

We’re not going to wait a few extra days to dive into these fitness crazes. What will you be trialing to trick up your training?
