“Celebrities make their living off their appearance and recognise the importance of consistency with diet and exercise. We can learn from them in this way!” says celebrity trainer, former NRL player and co-owner of Flow Athletic, Ben Lucas.

“It starts with breakfast,” he continues. “You want to have a meal containing protein, because your body has been fasting for several hours and protein stops the muscle from wasting away,” he explains. “Include good fats, which will help manage your hunger throughout the morning. Think an omelette or avocado on grain toast.”

Here are more of Bens top tips to training like a celebrity:

When is the best time to train?

“My advice is to exercise in the morning when you wake up – you get it out of the way and benefit from an endorphin boost before you get to work!”

How is the best way to train?

“Every single person benefits from strength training – it’s an important part of your exercise regime because it tones your body, increases your metabolism and helps you burn fat even when you’ve stopped training. I use this as the foundation for any fitness program and then depending on the person’s goals, build the cardio around that.”

How can I find the perfect personal trainer?

“Convenience should be a big factor in choosing where you train. Choose somewhere close so transport can’t be an excuse! Look for trainers with knowledge and experience with the goals you’re trying to achieve. Make sure they are qualified.”

How can I remain consistent with training?

  1. Set your training like an appointment in your diary – and stick to it once it’s in there.
  2. Set a measurable goal – for example, lose 2% body fat, a dress size, 2 kilograms.
  3. Train with a friend to keep you accountable.
  4. Work with a trainer.
  5. Do it first thing in the morning so it’s done and nothing can get in the way!

What if I’ve got no time to train?

“If you’re time poor, even a 30-minute high-intensity workout will give you great benefit. Even if you get out for a 20-minute power walk in your lunch break, or get on the skipping rope for 15 minutes, you’ll still benefit.”

What should I wear for better training?

“Comfortable training clothes are very important because when you’re working out you want the focus to be on the training itself and not be distracted by the clothing.”

Stay focused and look fierce next time you’re training. Here’s some styles that pack their own punch.
