Stylizens, we need to focus for a moment. It’s almost spring and I don’t know about you, but my skin has taken a serious beating. Before I can even fathom investing in new season fashion or footwear, I’m honing in on repairing winter skin damage and fortifying my complexion and body for the spring months ahead.
Here are the four steps I’ll be taking to get my skin in tip top shape post-winter and pre-spring!
By now, scaley skin has set in. Hot indoor conditions – and lots of layered clothes – combined with the chill outdoors has left my skin feeling dry and dull. My first step is to get back into dry body brushing. Every second shower I take, I work in upward motions with a loofah or dry body brush from the feet up. This loosens scaley skin and helps boost circulation. For the face, I use a gentle exfoliant twice a week which rejuvenates ravaged areas, especially around the cheeks. Both of these methods result in brighter skin instantly, and allow moisturiser to be 100% more efficient!

Even if you’re a light lotion kinda girl, now is the time to go for rich creams and oil. Your skin really needs the extra moisture even if it isn’t necessarily classified as ‘dry’. A beautiful way to ensure you are getting optimal hydration is to apply a face oil and then add an application of face cream over that in the evening after cleansing. Do so at least an hour before bed to ensure absorption before hitting the pillow.
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair® Cream Intense Hydration, $30, available at Sephora.
Pond’s Hydra Revital Aqua Collagen Cream, $26.99, available at Priceline.
Once the calendar clicks over into September, it’s time to invest in some powerful skin care ingredients to maintain a steady stream of fortification on the face and body. Glycerine, Ceramides, and Urea are set to become my new best friends as they are super hydrating. These suckers are skin savers in the real sense, ensuring my complexion shows no sign of the winter gone by!
Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Eye Serum, $110, available at David Jones.

By now, sleeves are getting shorter, and skirts are creeping up, so it’s time to shift focus to getting that healthy spring glow on your limbs. But take your cue from the slowly blooming flowers of spring, and do so gradually. I find the best way to dial a tan up as desired is by using moisturizers with an in-built tanning agent. This way, by applying every second day, I ensure the tan looks perfectly real and natural.
St Tropez Everyday Gradual Tan Body Lotion, $33.95, available at Adore Beauty.
Dove Summer Glow Gradual Self Tan Body Lotion, $10.99, available at Priceline.
