Why wait to get a hop on what's hot in cosmetics? We've peeked through the crystal ball of cosmetics to bring you three of the strongest eye, lip and skin trends coming to a beauty counter near you!
Why wait for the new year when it comes to shopping your cosmetic colours? Once again, Stylizen has leapfrogged the lot when it comes to 2017 beauty trends and brought back with us a sneak peak of lip shades, cheek tints, eye shadows and foundation formulations you’ll be sporting next year.
And let me tell you, although there is no rhyme or reason, there is a hell of a lot of realistically wearable looks. Choose one and embrace it with abandon – or go with the lot at different times of the day and night. Welcoming new cosmetics in the new year is a surefire way to refresh your look. Here’s the Stylizen Edit of 2017 Cosmetic Colours!
Eyes are a focus coming into the new year, but not necessarily as we know it. At the Balmain show, it was all about the layering with a dark eye gloss applied over black eyeliner for a super-sexy smudged sheen. The best part about this is that it takes no efficiency or accuracy whatsoever! Which is a win for all of us! High-shine glosses – rather than powders – are big news on eyelids so even if you don’t want to go for a dark eye, go with a transparent lip gloss pressed into the lid this summer to make eyes pop and increase the luminosity level.
3CE Glass Gloss Transparency, $43, available at Sephora.
Jane Iredale Eye Gloss, $36 now $30.60, available at Adore Beauty.
REVLON ColorStay Crème Gel Eye Liner, $24.95, available at Priceline.
Less is more in 2017. Even Kim Kardashian is sporting a barely there palette, ensuring that skin scores the win this summer. But this is an easy look to overdo – even though the look is so undone. Still with me? Here’s the tip: If you are aiming for an evenly bronzed yet radiant complexion, match your coverage CORRECTLY! Do this across the jawline in daylight (not artificial light) and with a very honest family member or a pair of strong spectacles close at hand! You need to be able to see the complexion shade disappear into your neck and decolletage. Otherwise, it’s not for you. And always keep skin protected, cleansed and moisturised so that when it comes to foundation application, it’s vital and healthy enough to shine through. For 2017 foundation is about encouraging – not covering – the complexion.
Bobbi Brown Buffing Grains For Face, $65, available at Bobbi Brown.
Clinique Airbrush Concealer, $40, available at Clinique.
Youngblood Mineral Radiance Moisture Tint, $69.95 now $62.96, available at Adore Beauty.
We always love a two-in-one, but when it’s combined with a DIY, then it’s sheer perfection. This summer, the lips and eyes are working together to share one cosmetic: lipstick. The rosy glow abounded on the catwalk at Erdem, with models sporting a diffused and blended lip colour pressed onto cheeks as well as their pout. Always choose a sheer, hydrating option when attempting this look so that it glides on smoothly. Always blend lipstick into the back of the hand before applying to the cheeks to dilute the pigment.
Mirenesse Maxi-Tone Lip Bar, $30 – available at Sephora.
Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Bitch Perfect, $48 – available at Charlotte Tilbury.
Clinique Pop™ Oil Lip & Cheek Glow, $40 – available at Clinique.
Which feature will you be accentuating coming into 2017? Do you love the eyes, cheek or lip trends?
